Ì«Ñô³Ç¹ÙÍø Now Offers Three Levels of Stackable Certificates for Teacher Aides and Assistants!

This series of certificates is perfect when:

  • You want to be a Teacher Aide
  • You are a current Teacher Aide looking to enroll in meaningful college units to increase pay or for a promotion
  • You are a Pre-K -12 employer looking for quality professional development for teacher aides and classroom assistants

Start with Paraprofessional I and work your way through Paraprofessional III.

Purpose: To encourage current students and/or school staff to explore career opportunities in education with special emphasis on Bilingual and Special Education as a Paraprofessional as well as Literacy, Science, and Math. Achievable in one semester.

Core Courses:

  • EDUC B3 Roles and Responsibilities of the Paraprofessional (3 units)
  • EDUC B9 Foundations of Literacy Instruction (3 units)
  • EDUC B10 Foundations of Educational Technology (3 units)

Purpose: To encourage current students and/or school staff to explore career opportunities in education with special emphasis on Bilingual and Special Education as a Paraprofessional as well as Literacy, Science, and Math. Achievable in one semester.

Paraprofessional Level I Certificate of Achievement PLUS
Core Courses:

  • EDUC B5 Learning in Math and Science (3 units)
  • CHDV B21 Child Growth and Development: Birth through Adolescence (3 units)
  • COMM B1 or B8 Public Speaking or Work Experience (1-3 units)

Purpose: To encourage current students and/or staff to explore career opportunities in education with special emphasis on Bilingual and Special Education as a Paraprofessional as well as English, Literacy, Science, and Math. Achievable in 1-2 semesters.

Paraprofessional Level I and Level II Certificates of Achievement PLUS
Core Courses:

  • EDUC B24 Introduction to Classroom Teaching (3 units with Field Experience)
  • ENGL B1A Composition (3 units)
  • Mathematics or Quantitative Reasoning (3-5 units)
